I guess the contacts must have been dirty or corroded and by reconnecting them the dirt or corrosion was cleared. because I've replaced the motherboard with a more healthy one but still second-hand (because of SD RAMs and ...). I have a 1tb ext hard drive that shows up on my computer, but doesn't work as a USB device. For example, add the letter G: and the removable drive will be accessible at drive G:.
