My first tentative to reinstall windows worked, then I tried to run a virus test (with eset online). I find each one but there is not a lot of information for ether one. thanks a lot for the advise. My best guess is that windows is now stuck in trying to boot up in safe mode but thats based solely on the course of events. I press a key and then the Windows setup begins. solved I am trying to install windows xp on my pc which has windows 8.1 and linux mint as dual boot. The weird thing is I was using a multitask dos boot utility's cd it also shows all the info regarding the hard drive make model and size. The rise if the machines has begun. It does Identify the drive ok, just can't seem to boot from it! All you have to worry about is drivers.
